 Ron Balicki's Martial Arts Lineage
The basis for Ron's work in the martial arts comes from his 20+ years under
Sifu Dan Inosanto. Ron managed and taught at the Inosanto Academy from
1993-1998.
Jeet Kune Do
Ron holds the rank of Full Instructor in Jun Fan Gung Fu (Jeet Kune Do),
However, Ron's experience in the martial arts goes much further.
Filipino Kali
Ron holds a Full Instructorship in Filipino Kali under Guro Dan Inosanto. Ron
has also trained under Filipino martial arts master such as Leo Giron, Angel
Cabales, Dinisio Canete, and Ted Lucay Lucay.
Maphilindo Silat
Ron holds a Maphilindo Silat Full Instructor level 4 under Guro Dan Inosanto.
Lameco Escrima
Ron is ranked Senior Assistant Instructor under the latePunong Guro Edgar
Sulite. Ron trained with PG Sulite since 1989 and was one of his closest
friends. He assisted PG Sulite in making his Espada y Daga training video.
Indonesian Silat
Ron trained extensively in the United States and Indonesia in the art of
Mande Muda with the late Pendekar (Grandmaster) Herman Suwanda, Maha GuruVictor
De Thouras in Penchak Silat Serak and with Pendekar Paul De Thouars in Bukti
Negara Pentjak Silat.
Wing Chun Gung Fu
Ron is an Instructor under Sifu Randy Williams, as well as co-founder with
Sifu Williams of the first Close Range Combat Academy in Chicago, Illinois. Ron
also trained extensively with Sifu Francis Fong.
Muay Thai Boxing
Ron is an instructor under Ajarn (Master) Chai Surisute, having worked
together for over 10 years. Ron is also an instructor in the World Muay Thai
Association.
Shooto (Shoot Wrestling)
Ron holds the rank of Shooter (Professional Fighter) under Sensei Yori
Nakamura, the highest ranked person under the founder Sensei Satora Sayama, Ron
has had several middle weight division professional fights in Japan.
Boxe Francaise (Savate)
Ron is a silver glove.

Ron is a 7th degree black belt.
Latigo y Daga (Whip and Dagger)
Ron is an instructor under Whip expert, Guro Tom Meadows.
Law Enforcement
Ron spent over three years with the Cook County Sheriff's Department, and
continues to assist police agencies in the United States to improve their
martial arts techniques. In Europe, he teaches martial arts to the , French
President's Secret Service, the French Anti-Terrorist Team "RAID" (the French
counterpart to the U.S. Navy Seals) and the DEA. Ron Balicki, and Martial Arts
Research Systems can be found teaching martial arts seminars around the world.
Film and Stunts
Before Ron Balicki got his start in the entertainment field as a stuntman and
a fight / stunt coordinator, he grew up in the windy city of Chicago. Awe struck
by Bruce Lee, Ron was inspired to study the martial arts. After an in-depth
study of the subject, he sought out the one man who truly understood Bruce Lee's
teachings, the legendary martial artist Dan Inosanto. After many years of study,
Ron earned Full instructorships in Jun Fan Gung Fu (Jeet Kune Do Concepts),
Maphilindo Silat and Filipino Kali from Sifu Inosanto.
In 1987 Ron became a Cook County Deputy Sheriff stationed in Chicago,
Illinois. Ron helped form the Cook County Sheriff's Special Operations
Resistance Team (S.O.R.T.), a team of officers trained to handle riot control.
At this time Ron also began work as a bodyguard for various Hollywood movie and
music stars. Ron has traveled as far as Japan and Indonesia to train and compete
in "No holds barred fighting tournaments. As a professional Shoot Wrestler, Ron
has competed in America and Japan, winning his last fight in Tokyo, Japan before
retiring. Ron also earned instructorship's in Thai Boxing, Savate, Lameco
Escrima, Wing Chun Gung Fu, Latigo y daga (whip fighting), and Shoot Wrestling.
Military, DEA, SWAT, FBI, Home Land Security, Law Enforcement from America and
abroad, Anti-Terrorist groups and the French President's Secret Service have all
sought Ron out for his experience and teaching skills. He is the author of
numerous articles for magazines worldwide, and has written his own best selling
book on Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do.
Ron has produced a widely respected series of martial arts training videos.
He has stunt coordinated several films. "Special kudos are due fight
choreographer Ron Balicki for visceral combat that looks punishing rather than
cartoonist." This was quoted in an article written by Dennis Harvey of Variety
Magazine about Ron's work in the crime thriller film called "The Prodigy." Ron
was responsible for the Stunt and fight coordinating on the film.
